Alina showed her full complement of kickball skills on Sunday. It started with some precision bunting that allowed her to get on base at will mixed with awesome power when she kicked a blast over and beyond the outfielder for a solo home run. She had it all on defense as well making a couple great catches on the run and finishing as the closer with some outstanding pitching. It really was a dominating performance by Alina and a well deserved POTW!

Jake K started off the season with a bang. On offense, he went 2/3 and drove in the three runs. On the defensive side, he was rock solid from his position at third base, catching everything he could get his hands on. James solid performance helped his team to a 6-2 win in their first game of the season.

Ebae Kim
Kicksaurus
Ebae came ready to play today with her over-sized 'mega shirt' and her positive vibes on the field. Using her 'trick and kick' precision bunting skills and amazing speed enabled her to get on base 3 times and she came up just short of scoring a run. On defense, she made a great catch on a hot line drive to 3rd ending an opponents rally. Next time we want to see her make that big catch WITH the mega shirt.

Grant Linacre

Grant was a dominating force in all aspects of play on this very windy Wednesday evening of kickball. It seemed like nothing would go right for Goat Rodeo as they were trailing 4-0 starting the 4th inning. That's when Grant stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and laced a looping line drive triple to right field scoring 3. He followed that with a 2-run single in their big 9-run 6th inning to nearly put the game away. It took a little more from Grant in the form of some great D and precision pitching to earn victory in what was really a kickball battle!

John Gilbert
Bunt Force Trauma
When it comes to defensive mastery, look no further than John, with his unassisted double play. A line drive kick down the first base line left John reaching for a catch and then diving back to first to tag the base , barely ahead of the runner, for out number two of the play and three in the inning.

Marlina Williams

Marlina had a great game defensively. She made 3 or 4 nice catches in the OF. She was all over the field and made catches look much easier than they were. Without Marlina, Ball Related would have had a much tougher game and maybe even lost.

Jess Seftel
Goat Rodeo
Jess seftel, gets player of the week tonight for rock solid defense at third base. Jess caught everything she could even making a solid catch while accidentally getting slid into by the runner. She took the hit like a champ and kept playing. On offense, she was a headache for the opposing defense with her speed. She ended the day with 2 runs scored thanks to that sped and some great kicking. Nice work Jess!!!

Ben Carson
Ball Related
To give credit where credit is due, player of the week this week was the opposite of Jessie. Ben could actually catch the ball in the outfield while staying on his feet, he could also secure an in the park home run without slowing down and being tagged out at home two feet from scoring. And he tended to have amazing luck throwing people out today, chucking on from halfway across the infield to nail a runner on their heel. All in all it was an excellent performance for Ben. Congratulations on the win and way to play.

Grant demonstrated the Underdog quality of great sportsmanship with serious play while keeping it fun for everyone. His defense at catcher was spot-on making out after out with a quick jump and accurate throws to first. He nearly recorded an amazing out at the plate just missing the runner as he redirected the incoming ball. He also helped lead his team to victory with a run kicked in and a run scored in what ended up being a tight 1 run victory. Thanks Grant!

Anthony Muck
IT'S KNIT FAM
Muck had one of the most ridiculously awesome kicks ever seen at the Ballard Boys and Girls club. In his first plate appearance of the evening he blasted a kick all the way to upper third of the netting in right center field. The spin on the ball then caused it to hang in the nets for an extra moment or two, allowing Anthony to make it all the way around the bases to score before the outfielders even touched the ball. What a monster blast. Congratulations on the win and way to play.
Morgan had an outstanding day on the mound. His pitching was so consistent that he ended up only rolling two balls the entire game. He also had an incredible day at the plate having some huge kicks that helped his team win. Overall it was just an outstanding performance that deserved some high praise. Great job Morgan!
Kreamer was everywhere tonight. He knocked in two RBI's, scored a few runs himself, recorded multiple outs on defense and was very vocal in his support for his team. His best play of the night was in the bottom of the seventh inning when the two teams were tied. After a close play at first he then picked up the ball and threw out the winning run a few steps before home plate. Congratulations on the win and way to play!
