The Black Hole at Shortstop
This past Tuesday at Cascade playfield, Maddie Eden displayed situational awareness and athletic prowess to aid in her team's dominant victory. Playing the whole game at shortstop, Maddie routinely caught fly balls and hard liners, while fielding ground balls for close putouts at 2nd base. For her perfect fielding percentage on the day, Maddie is our player of the week. Congratulations!

Jeremy Liu
Dream Crushers
With his team, Dream Crushers, trailing 6 to 3 and needing a 5th inning pick-me-up, Jeremy came through big time. It was a smooth pitch with just the right amount of speed and he timed it perfectly, launching the ball high and deep to right center finally landing on the concrete several feet past the path just before the picnic table for a 3-run HR. He followed that with a couple nice catches in the slippery outfield and a run scored for a complete game effort. The final score may have been tilted the wrong way at the end but it sure was an exciting game. Thanks for keeping it fun!

Justin Chinnn
The N's are Silent
This past Tuesday at Cascade playfield, Justin Chin did his best Clayton Kershaw impression, notching his first few strikeouts of the season. Even more impressively, Justin recorded 3 strikeouts in one inning, causing foul tip after foul tip to retire the entire side of the lineup. For his pitching prowess, Justinnn is our player of the week!

On defense, Jiwon was all over the place, showing her range as she dominated the outfield. Sunny to the Rescue!
Swift Kick in the Grass had a dilemma on their hands. They needed one more female player in order to be a legal roster and have their game count in the standings. That spot was filled by Sunny, a friendly and athletic parkgoer. Sunny performed admirably throughout the day, effectively manning the catcher position and getting on base consistently. For answering the call of duty, Sunny is our player of the week.
This past Tuesday at Cascade Playfield, Rachel was a defensive force to be reckoned with. While playing first base, Rachel recorded a number of impressive putouts, demonstrating her ability to stretch for wayward throws. Most impressively, however, was a double play that Rachel turned at home. After recording an out at first base, Rachel promptly fired the ball to a runner who was advancing from third to home plate. Right before the runner hit the plate, the ball hit him, ending the inning in dramatic fashion. For her uncanny athleticism and situational awareness, Rachel is our player of the week.

Sam Van Pelt
Dream Crushers
Sam Van Pelt gets out player of the week for his otherworldly performance at the plate. Sam could not be stopped at the plate, hitting for the cycle and then added another triple for good measure in the seventh inning. Congrats Sam!
Maddie brought her playoff game to the field Thursday and led her team to the semi finals with outstanding play on both sides of the ball. She had an amazing running catch in the 1st inning and then had a huge 2 run double and a run scored to start it off. She also had a big sac fly to RF in the 6th to extend the lead and help her team move to the next round. In game 2, Maddie had another huge running catch in CF that saved at least 3 runs and ended an opponents rally to go along with a couple big kicks. Thanks for giving your all and having a good time doing it!
Jeremy had some fantastic catches in the outfield to help his bring his team not only 1, but 2 victories this week. To top it off he had a fabulous diving catch that helped prevent the other team from scoring during a key play.
Sam had a solid performance on both sides of the ball in what ended up being a 10 inning championship game. He kicked a huge run scoring triple in the 3rd and had another RKI in the 7-run 7th to help send the game to extra innings. In the 10th and final inning, he advanced the runners with a nice twisting line drive to right field that ended up being the difference in a very close game. His defense was spot on as well, with several key catches in center field, including a running catch with bases loaded to end a late rally by McKickface and bring the trophy home for Dream Crushers.
