My Other Foot Is In My Pants Star Matthew Strum Rallies His Team To Win
Great games today. Credit Crunch won and lost their double-header games, going 1-1. Indy K#9 lost a close matchup 2-4 and almost pulled out the win. My Other Foot Is In My Pants won their evening's matchup by tallying 9 runs over seven innings (maybe 7.5 innings). Thank you for everyone that showed up to play. Highlighted this week is Matthew Strum. His powerful kicking led his team to victory into the night when the lights of Cascade playground were coming on. Even though it was getting dark and it was getting harder to see, Matthew kicked the ball the farthest of any kicker that night. He kicked the ball right into the playground! (on a couple bounces) With this show of power, his team rallied around him and won 9-0. Congrats to Matt Strum for winning Player of the Week!

Ball Busters Star Ryan Tsoi Helps His Team Win Game 2
Thank you to everyone that came out to play at Cascade Playfield! Ball Busters had a double-header and split the two games with a convincing win in their second game. Looking to Score won the first matchup and brought their kicks/defense and team spirit. Indy K#9 put some game together, and showed signs of improving. For this week's player of the week, we honour Ball Buster's Ryan Tsoi. Ryan had 3 hits and stellar defense in the outfield. He helped his team by kicking the ball and recording outs on deep kicked fly balls. Congrats to Ryan and his team Ball Busters on winning 1 of 2 games played tonight. See you next week!

My Other Foot Is In My Pants
With her team down 1 run in the top of the 9th, Kristin known as K.J. found herself in a situation where should could be the hero or the goat. Not one to succumb to pressure, K.J. laid a beautifully placed bunt passed the on-charging pitcher and 3rd basemen for a two RBI infield single to put her team up by a run. The go ahead RBI's would prove to be the game winner.

Sonia Golemme's Magical Outfield Catch Late

Credit Crunch and Sonia Golemme Win Against Looking to Score
Congratulations to Sonia Golemme and Credit Crunch this week. Credit Crunch pulled out a win versus Looking to Score with some late game-saving defense. Second baseperson Namita Kumar made catches and so did Sonia in pivotal moments of the game. Wow. If you were not at Cascade playfield to witness Sonia's catch in left field, you missed the best catch on a long flyball down the line this season. When both teams cheer a defensive play, you have to stand up and applaud too. Recognizing Sonia Golemme's outstanding catch on the left field line, late in the game and when it counted most, is what Player of the Week is set up for. Wish we had Sonia's catch on video-- or maybe the video would just not be the same exciting play as it was to see in-person. Sonia Golemme takes home this week's Player of the Week honours. That was a good win by Credit Crunch to barely beat Looking to Score. Also, shout-out to James Irvine from Bag of Kicks on his speedy recovery from his leg injury.

My Other Foot Is In My Pants' Star Rosita Llarena Wins POTW
Great games this week, including an early 5-1 win by My Other Foot Is In My Pants. Going up early in the game, My Other Foot Is In My Pants held onto their lead by stellar defense. One standout player was Rosita Llarena. She not only helped out with umpire calls (or wanted to) but shut down the left side of the infield at third base. She added a couple hits and one run to help her team win their ballgame. Congrats to Rosita for winning this week's Player of the Week.

Bag of Kicks' Sub Whitney Does More Than Expected
Good games at Cascade Playfield this week. This week, we recognize Whitney for going out of her way to help everyone have a good time playing kickball. With only one game left in the evening, INDY K#9 was in desperate need of players. In order to play, Bag of Kicks offered up one of their own, Whitney, to help K#9 and Bag of Kicks play a full game. Player of the Week goes to Whitney for selflessly helping another team- she even collected a couple hits to aide. Thank you Whitney. These kinds of acts help our league be the best and most fun. Again, congrats to Whitney for winning POTW.

Looking to Score Wins Double-Header
This week has been so good at Cascade Playfield. We ran into some rules (out of play boundaries, kicking in front of the plate, staying on 2B and 3B- not running through, etc.) At this point in the season at Cascade, a lot of things are being done right and teams are playing at higher levels. For instance, folks are using safety bases without hesitation. Another point is that defense (i.e. catching the ball, player positions) has gotten a lot better. Looking to Score is a team on the rise after playing a few games. They won both games in their double-header, extra innings in the second game, and had great energy. Their leader, Zach Goldstein, pointed out that the whole team was responsible this week for playing better and securing their two wins. Congrats to the entire team of Looking to Score for winning Player of the Week!

Looking to Score Wins One of Two Games
Looking to Score was scheduled for two games at Cascade playfield. The first game was a forfeit by Indy K#9. The second game was closer than the score shows. Zach Goldstein wins this week's POTW because, during the hour of waiting for their second game, he got his team to just have fun and throw the ball around and play in the park and take a team photo! Great kickball season and see Looking to Score next season.

My Other Foot Is In My Pants
Besides catching everything that came his way on defense, Mitch came up big with his foot as well. It was the top of the 6th--championship game and tie score when Mitch came to the plate. There were 2 runners aboard when he launched a high, booming kick toward center-right field--it went back, it kept going and boom! it landed on the concrete past the outfield for a 3-run homer, giving My Other Foot a 3-run advantage and they held on to capture the title. Way to go Mitch!
