The Downtown Ballers were crowned champions after a hard fought win in the final game of the season. The overtime game in the championship game was only fitting as both teams that reached the title game were more than worthy. Sasquatch Militia has a veteran unit that showed true grit by scratching and clawing their way to the championship game. It was tough for them to lose in overtime in the championship game, but Downtown Ballers also showed a lot of grit and deserve their share of credit for winning the championship game. They were led by Brian Star who had the came winning touchdown in overtime.
It was one of the more thrilling finishes to a season in the history of Underdog Sports Leagues. The Downtown Ballers are now and will be forever known as champions and they have Brian Starr to thank for it. Starr caught the game winning touchdown in a 40-34 overtime victory. The win set off extreme levels of jubilation for Downtown Ballers, who partied into the night.
This week in the Gentleman's flag football league at Memorial Stadium on Saturdays the Player of the Week is Ben Lee of the Downtown Ballers. Ben's great defense made a big difference in the game, forcing a safety and getting three sacks. Ben also proved to be consistent on offense in short yardage situations, catching five extra points and helping his team win over the Killer Consultants 43-20. Good work Ben!
