The Men's Championship brought the top two seeds in the league, and the 1 and 2 seed did not disappoint. Meeting for the second time of the season, as these two teams kicked off the season playing each other where the Gamecocks handed the Sumner City Boys their only loss of the season. Both teams were the obvious contenders for the championship, as they are loaded with weapons. With a 38 to 31 final score, Sumner Boys were able to come up with some big defensive turnovers, and stay on top on the scoreboard all game. With an early lead, this very veteran team who have played in the league for years executed long drives depleting the clock and successfully putting points up at the end of drives. The Sumer City Boys are Saturday winter Football league Champs, and I am sure will be back to defend their title! Great season to both teams, and congrats to the Boys!
In the Championship game Jason S. came up big in a nail-biting play with time ticking on the clock. The Sumner City boys needed a log first down so they could execute their victory formation, and Jason was the receiver who caught a tough pass in coverage and move the chains for the eventual victory. Great game Jason!
In a game that was 26 to 27 with little time on the clock and the losing team marching, it was Jason S. who came up big. Jason reeled in a game seeking INT to help put his team in the win column for the week! Great job Jason!
In the most exciting game of the day, Chris Britt of the Sumner City Boys came up clutch when it mattered most. With mere seconds remaining, the Boys made the gutsy call to go for 2 and the win instead of settling for a tie game. The gamble paid off though as Chris pulled in a tough catch and give his team the 1 pt lead and the victory.
