POTW: Bryce Kennedy

Leny's large

Bryce Kennedy is not your typical athlete, but he may be a typical Underdog. He's a little older than the average Underdog participant and plays despite some mobility issues due to a motorcycle accident years ago. But Bryce is all heart. Leny's has taken their share of hard knocks this season, but Bryce is back every week, playing hard, pumping his team up, and wanting to be involved in every play. On the way to another tough loss on Monday, the question of whether the team should throw in the towel early was brought up. Bryce would have none of it, wanting to finish what they started and finish strong. "I feel like a kid again out here," he said. Thank you, Bryce. Thank you for reminding us why we all play.

POTW: john phillips

Leny's large

Leny's Large had a tough time of it Monday, playing two close games that ended up ultimately as losses. But their spirits were high and they played great. John Phillips in particular hustled on every play, and ended up coming up with the Play of The Week. Reminiscent of what we saw in one of the other Lower Woodland leagues last week, John turned the rarest of rare unassisted triple play- catching a fly ball on the run, tagging first for the second out when a runner failed to tage, and throwing out the runner tagging from third, just inches before home plate. Both teams were in awe. Well done, John. We're going to have to check these kickballs if people keep turning unassisted triple plays...
