Summer Co-ed Kickball in Ballard - Sunday Afternoons

Back during the regular season when Let's Kick It registered two consecutive forfeits due to lack of players, it seemed unlikely that they'd end up Champions of Ballard Sunday Afternoon league. And yet it came to pass in dramatic fashion yesterday. First they made short work of the #1 seed Bada Bings, upsetting them in an 11-3 rout. By comparison, the other first round playoff game- a highly anticipated rematch between the Pink Seagulls and Kitty Litter- was an all out war. For the second time in as many weeks, the Litter played a 9 inning game, and again they couldn't hold on. The Gulls rallied late to comeback and force extra innings and then took over in the top of the 9th. The Litter had a chance to come back in the bottom half, scoring quick, but fell one run short. The Seagulls advanced and avenged their regualr season loss.
The Championship game looked like an early blowout as the Seagulls jumped out 5-0 early, but Let's Kick It crawled back little by little while playing solid defense- a run here, a run there- before taking the lead for good in the top of the 7th. The Gulls had the winning run at the plate late in the 7th, but a double play ended the game and their season.
Let's Kick It had squeaked it out 6-5 for their Championship. Congratulations, guys.

POTW: The Whole Damn Team

Lets Kick It

Let's Kick It were the #4 seed entering the playoffs and they came away with the title in fine upset style. Along their road to victory, everyone did their part to bring home a championship. The booming kicks from Andy and Kyle. The tough defense of Johnny and Dave. The sound bunting of Kelsie and Kanae. Even Kyle's mom helped out with two singles in their first playoff game. It was a team effort all the way, and so as a team they share the MVP. Thanks for a great season, guys.

POTW: Andy Fader

Lets Kick It

The last game of the day at Ballard Boys and Girls Club Sunday, was the closest game of the day. Bottom of the seventh- tie game. On defense- Smack My Pitch Up, hungry for a win, but shaken by one of their players leaving the game due to injury in the first half of the winning. Kicking- Let's Kick It, perhaps even hungrier for a win after having to forfeit their last two games due to lack of people. Andy Fader must have skipped breakfast, cause boy was he hungry. His walk off two run home run, ended the game, ended their skid, and presumably ended that hunger, but unfortunately, not the world's. Better luck next time, Andy.
