After going undefeated in the regular season, Too Damn Lazy contiunued their winning ways in 2 close games. In their semi final game, the game was a close 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 4th when they started to unload some runs on Team Zissou. A 5 run 5th inning was followed by a 6 run 6th, creating a hole that was impossible for Zissou to claw back from. The championship game featured a close back and forth game. Much like the Wright/Taylor fight, this one could have gone either way. After taking a one run lead in the top of the 7th and final inning, Goat Rodeo got 2 quick fly outs. With the pressure on, Too Damn Lazy got 2 consecutive singles to place runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs and Brian Jones up. Brian launched a ball out to deep right field for a 3 run home run and the championship.
Fiilling in as the captain for the week, Brian put the team on his back and grabbed the championship with his game winning homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Brian did it on the mound and on the plate pitching a complete game and belting 3 HR's to lead "Too Damn Lazy" to a big victory over the Shockers. I guess you could say that with his 8 RBI's that Jones "Shocked" the Schockers....ha ha ha ha.....sigh.....Nice job Brian.
Shawna put her own personal mark on the game by making 2 amazing catches while falling down in the late innings. This was added to the HR she hit at the beginning of the game to give Too Damn Lazy the lead.
It was Shawna's Bat that was consistent and not Lazy. She helped spark the team from the 1st inning. Batting 3rd she ignited a 2 out rally in the 1st inning. And then it was her aggressive running of the bases that put her in scoring position for subsequent batters.
