The Pirates of Puget Sound make quick work of Hard Ten in the championship game. Cody Nelson pitched a Nolan Ryan-esk sort of game. It helped that he had stellar defense on the field. There were diving catches at third and in the outfield. Second base was a star for most of the game with her cheers, but mostly for her always knocking the ball down and not letting it into the outfield. What will happen next? Do they stay together or split the team up?
Player of the week can be defined as one who gets all the hits, makes all the catches or the one who inspires their team. Now this week, it was close for who got player of the week. Both people actually come from The Pirates of Puget Sound. Now Cameron hit the game winning hit in the semi-final game and then had multiple hits and stellar defense.
Now the close runner up is Erin Stockdill who didn't get great hits, but inspired her team and put her body in front of the balls on every play. She took balls of the chins, knees and thighs, but did prevent extra base hits which helped keep the score low.
Indy teams are known for their tenacity. Change pitched a shut out game into the 7th inning, unfortunately the indy team got ahold of him wearing him down and got two runs out of the innings. To pitch a shut out game in softball is quite an accomplishment, but for almost getting that, Change is our player of the week.
