Notes

First Place

Summer Co-ed Softball at Queen Anne/Interbay Tues/Thurs

The championship game shows why you play all 7 innings. With two great teams well rounded on both offense and defense it was anyone's game and was decided late. Both teams played close games to get into the chipper, Just the tip advancing on a 4 run win, and St. Andrews advancing on a 1 run win. Energy was still high on both sides, but Just the Tip used some long balls to eek out a lead early and gave themselves some breathing room. St. Andrews scoffed at the lead in the 4th and rallied 8 runs across taking the lead through the 5th. Just the Tip played solid small ball and great "D" in the final two innings scoring 6 runs and hanging on to the 5 run lead, and walked with the champ shirts and all the pride and joy that comes with them. Great season to both teams!

Champ shirt, Huge welt, Skinned knees! priceless.

This weeks player of the week goes to Tony Pullen for his 110% in two tough playoff games. Tony pitched both games, but when the ball was in play Tony was in motion with getting outs on his mind. He laid out for a tight play at home getting the tag before a run scored, and that was early. He fielded lazors up the middle, both for self preservation as well as an out closer to the crown. Tony pitched two great games, and when each game was on the line he dialed in and hit the corners. Great night Tony!

POTW: Courtney Posey

Courtney Posey is our Player of the Week because of her lightning-rod-esque hitting for her team. "Just the Tip" came out sluggish into the their playoff opener and needed to get something going to fend off their opposition. Courtney delivered with a 2 RBI double that jump-started the offense until they were able to blow the game wide open. Great Job Courtney!

Leading the Way

This week's player of the week is Tony Pullen, who did a little bit of everything to lead Just The Tip to a victory. Just The Tip jumped out to a large early lead after a 9 run first inning, thanks in part to Tony's brilliance at the plate. Tony went 3-3 with 2 doubles and a triple on the night. Despite the big first inning, Just The TIp struggled to manufacture runs, but Tony kept the Ligers at bay with his lock-down pitching performance, which included him knocking down a line drive up the middle, recovering, and gunning down the runner barreling down the line. Congratulations to Tony and Just The Tip on a hard earned win!

POTW: Tom McGaugh

Just the Tip

Tom had a reat day at the plate going 6 for 6 with 3 homers and 3 doubles. The big difference was his homers weren't just hits that rolled by people. He One hoped the fence twice which is 350+ away. Thats the same as hitting homers out of Safeco. Speaking of which rumor has it the M's are looking for a bat. Tom you keep that up, and the M's will be calling you soon. Great job!!!
