Slammin' Pitches had a tough assignment on Thursday; a double-header on a very warm day. Daniel came to play, however, and was more-or-less unstoppable with his Mets hat for long stretches of each game.
Though his blasts at the plate and stunning defense were laudable, one play stood out as particularly incredible. With a runner on first and none out, a ball was tapped back to Daniel's pitcher, who turned and fired a low ball ball wide of second base. Shortstop Daniel adjusted his approach to a stuttering walk, reached down to snatch the ball on a hop, shuffled his feet to contact the base, and then fired a short-armed missile to record the double play.
It was that display of athletic prowess, combined with lasers from the bat and the arm that earn Daniel player of the week!
