First Place

Fall Co-ed Volleyball at First Baptist Mondays

It was a fun filled night this Monday at First Baptist, as playoffs got underway. Everyone was excited and cheerful and all were ready to prove their skills on the floor. The first match of the night was between the M's and Itsy Bitsy Spikers. Both teams looked polished in the first game, but between a combination of killer serves and a few well placed hits, the M's pulled out a victory. The second game came down to the wire, with both teams tied at 20-20. The last few points were nail bitters, but once again, the M's had just enough extra umph to win again.

The second match of the night was between Seriously, Charles and Kiss my Pass. Seriously, Charles won the first game on a serving spree, helped along with some well placed dumps. In the second game, Kiss my Pass amped up their attack, but Seriously, Charles were ready for them and scored another win.

The Championship match came down to The M's and Seriously, Charles. These two teams were made up of 3 of the same people, so each team played the Championship round with 4 players, which meant a lot of running around for several already exhausted players. The game was made even more fun adn interesting by the fact that the two teams are great friends outside of Underdog and this gave the match a lighthearted spirit. Each team took one game, with the scores excatly the same, the winners just flip-flopped. The third game was full of back and forth action, with The M's coming back to within a point late in the game. In the end though, it wasn't enough and Seriously, Charles, through a combination of kills and pushes, that claimed victory.

POTW: Ben Nakamura

Seriously, Charles

Ben is this week's POTM. Ben has stood out the whole season for his can-do attitude and upbeat personality. He is always smiling and laughing with his teammates and others and was always nice to opposing teams. He also played in 2 matches every week, making him a bonafide superstar. He was and is an amazing setter, with hands that just won't stop setting. His serves had been bullets across the net and he has always communicated to his team on the court. Keep up the good work in the next season Ben!

POTW: Ben Nakamura

The M's

If Ben were to get a super hero name today I think it would be The Blue Streak, because that is all you saw as he flew from one side of the court to the other picking up every ball he could. His motivating cheers mixed with his great sets sealed the victory for his team.

Monday, November 9

POTW: Tara Clark

Seriously, Charles

This weeks POTW is Tara Clark from Seriously, Charles. Not only did she perform great in her first match, she also played amazing in her 2nd match as well. Tara played two hours of fabulous volleyball in which she was all over the court, digging, setting, hitting and serving. She also had a great attitude and was upbeat the whole night. Congrats to Tara on her hard work Monday night and her commendable plays.

POTW: team

Seriously, Charles

Seriously, Charles is this weeks Team of the Week. They played with every ounce of energy they had and came up victorious. They had great coordination on the court and talked it up all the time, so that no ball dropped. They brought their A game to the court, banging out hits like it was an ordinary event. Seriously, Charles is a serious competitor in this league and has the potential to go far in the playoffs.
