Every so often, an athlete's skill captivates the entire court. Such was the case with Mandy Peone's performance in tonight's game: Mandy controlled the court with her consistent and strategic sets, provided constant communication with her team, and had a long string of low topspin serves, to boot! For her phenomenal performance on the court, Mandy is the Player of the Week. Congratulations, Mandy!
O.B.D.D - week one - may have put together THE play of the season last night. It's going to be near impossible to match, let alone top the effort, saves, and miracle that this sports fan witnessed. It all started with the back row middle sprawling out to pop a dink up, thank goodness for his ability to up/down because not a second later the opponent's middle sent the ball back at him and hedge and got the ball up...... but sent it sailing towards the back wall (surely all hope was lost). BUT NO! Cue up another back row player who hustled after the shanked dig and sang an arm in a hail Mary attempt to keep the play going.... IT WORKED! ... but wasn't a picture perfect pass to get the ball back towards the net. Luckily, another player followed her back and sang his platform from waaaaaaay far away from the net and sent the ball into the rafters, but with the trajectory to make it across the net..... but could it navigate the ceiling/lights/vents without touching anything???
IT DID!! The gym erupted in disbelief and the play will go down in history as The Matrix Play.
Great hustle O.B.D.D!!
