We have just crowned a new champion in the Green Lake league. Congratulations to the Panthers for their awesome victory over the Un-incredibles. Their bats were on fire, their defense was tough and they would just not be denied a first championship. Led by Max who played out for of his friggin mind batting 7 for 8 with 3 base clearing jacks, two triples and two doubles. He is also being nominated for a Gold Glove award for outstanding play at short stop all day long. In a nut shell, Max brought it. Congratulations to all of you and we hope to see you back in action next season defending your title. Great job and we hope many more to come for you all.
he Pinehurst Pounders are quickly becoming a household name in the USL softball leagues. Year in and year out this team shows up every game with one thing on their mind, winning. Their core of players is deep and their determination to win is unmatched. That's a lethal combination to try and go up against and on Saturday it showed. They squared off with the Starngers in the championship game and in the end, bats too damn hot and defense too damn delicious. They made it look easy ripping off run after run and keeping the Strangers on their heels the entire time. This is one of the best played games I have ever umped and my hat is off to the Pounders. Saturday was your day and no one was going to stand in the way of you guys winning a championship. I love your energy, your drive and your ability to play for each other. Well deserved championship and I can't wait to see you guys in action in the new season defending your title

After getting through the first of two playoff games on the day, the Pounders looked like they needed a break. Instead they got themselves a second game with the heavily favored, undefeated and number one ranked Bottom of the 5ths, Being seeded fifth themselves, no one gave them a chance, their season was supposed to be over so go and get your fishing rods ready. Well, it didn't quite go that way for the Pounders, instead they brought their A games and ultimately did something so rare in USL softball that only a few lower seeds have done it. It didn't look good for them in the top half of the first inning when BO5s ripped off four quick runs knocking them back on their heels. After being able to muster only one run in the bottom half, you could hear the air leaving the tires. While holding BO5s to two runs in the top half of the second inning which was a task in itself, something clicked and all hell broke loose. They surprisingly and emphatically ripped off ten runs in the bottom half of the inning giving themselves some much needed breathing room and a little confidence boost going into the later innings. The defense got stiffer. Over the next three innings they held BO5s to zero runs with some very delicious defense and it seemed as though they were everywhere the ball was being hit. That's when you know you're playing some delicious defense. This is a great win for their organization and a testament in not giving up when you feel like the odds are not in your favor. Thanks for reminding us Pounders and congratulations on moving on to the next round. Special shout out to Jenn for being named Most Improved Player for the year.
The Pounders are back at it and they are definitely looking like the team to beat in this league. Their energy, their power and their ability to have a grea time translates to intensity, hustle and straight up getting after it. Congratulations guys and gals.
