Crystal's Crew Picks Up First VB Championship
After picking up their first softball championship last year, they follow that up with their first volleyball championship this year. Crystal's Crew has come close many times only to lose in the championship match. Not this year though. Even those they were handicapped by having two girls out with injury, they pulled out the match by winning the first two matches of the night. Congratulations!

SUM[10] Late Summer Midcore Beach Volleyball at Alki Mondays Champs: Spike Break

Spike Break Picks Up 3rd Championship, 2nd this Year
Spike Break came into the day having lost only once the entire season. They finished out the season not losing a game in the semis and the championship. They made quick work of a very good LoLoDaJoJe team in their first match, winning both matches with several strong serves and some great net play. In the championship, they met up with the undefeated BSST. They decided to show that their one loss on the year was a total fluke as they took it to BSST in two grueling games that almost took an hour themselves. In the end, Spike Break walked away with the championship. Congratulations!

SUM[10] Late Summer Midcore 2 Beach Volleyball at Alki Mondays Champs: Serves you Right!

Serves you Right Pushes it to the Limit
On Monday night, "Serves You Right" started out with a rematch with "Don't Bump to Strangers". They played in the season opener back in June and it turned out to be just as close a match on Monday as it was back in June. Both teams had their chances, but SYR won the first two games which gave them a chance to rest up before the championship match. The championship match saw another rematch, as the Sweat Bandits looked to avenge a 3-0 loss earlier in the year. They pushed Serves You Right hard, winning the first game. The next two games were very close as the score went back and forth and both teams had their chances. Ultimately SYR pulled it out for the championship!

SUM[10] Late Summer Softcore Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Mondays Champs: Cocktails & Dreams

Enthusiasm and determination lead the way!
Cocktails and Dreams made it to the finals in their first underdog volleyball league and every game they played they were pumped up and ready to move through the sand at lightning speed. Their opponent Indy 2 while new as a team bonded quickly over the season to create a strategy and were determined to win. The games were really close and the energy was high! Cocktails and Dreams were able to pull ahead and win the last few points in the third game with awesome digs and lazer serves. to take the championship game! Good work teams!

SUM[10] Late Summer Midcore Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Mondays Champs: I'd Hit That

It was all about the net play!
Mondays midcore finals came down to I'd hit that versus Gobshites. Gobshites who are known for being scrappy put up a great fight with awesome spikes and blocks at the net. I'd hit that also had some amazing blocks at the net and the rallies never seemed to end. The match was pushed to a third and final tie breaker game where both teams put everything on the line but in the end I'd hit that pulled out with the win! Congrats!

SUM[10] Softcore Grass Volleyball at Meridian Park Thursdays Champs: Net Very Good

Fight to the Finish

When Serves Matter Most
Both Net Very Good and Kick Butts showed up with their game faces on and the fire in their eyes. Game one went to Net Very Good with a score of 21-14. Their serves were on and their defense was tight. Game two took a whole new spin and Kick Butts won it 21-7. Going into game three both teams were eager for the win and already had a bite of victory. There were some good rallies, but once again serves were key and the final victory went to Net Very Good.

SUM[10] Late Summer Softcore Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Thursdays Champs: Will Work for Sets

The Underdog legacy lives on
In true underdog fashion the softcore championship game came down to Kemp's Kidz versus Will Work for Sets who were seeded last going into the playoffs. Will Work for Sets was able to beat the number one seed on the first day of playoffs and knocked again came back from behind in the second night of playoffs to make it to the finals. With motivating speeches and determination WIll work for sets pulled out with the win and champs t shirts. Kemps Kidz put up a great fight but could not overcome the underdog! Nice work teams!

SUM[10] Late Summer Midcore Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Thursdays Champs: off-constantly

Teamwork and net play trumps all!
The double header for the championship game came down to off-constantly versus Second Best sets. Both teams were ready and brought their best game. Kapil from off- constantly had great net play and teammates with great serves to back him up. Second best put up a good fight with great digs but were just barely out played by off constantly who will be sporting their champs t-shirts next season!

SUM[10] Late Summer Softcore Beach Volleyball at Alki Wednesdays Champs: We dig 4-play

Great Time had by All
I have to say this was probably one of the most fun champs games I have seen in my days of underdog. Everyone hustled to get a touch on everything, but took time out to laugh about every other point. Though the level of play might not have been top notch, the attitude level definitely was. We Did 4 Play went 5 and 1 for the regular season and kept up their winning streak to claim the coveted champs spot…complete with awesome t-shirts!!

SUM[10] Late Summer Midcore Beach Volleyball at Alki Wednesdays Champs: Will Work for Sets

Work Hard, Play Harder
Both Will Work for Sets and Kemp’s Kids were fighting to the finish in this championship match. After each winning their semi finals games, there blood was pumping and they were ready to rock. Bump, set, spike trio’s were being handed out like presents at Christmas with many kill results and many great digs. The match went to 3 games, but unfortunately there can only be one victor and this round went to Will Work for Sets.

SUM[10] Late Summer Midcore2 Beach Volleyball at Alki Wednesdays Champs: More High Fives

Sweat and Determination
On a sunny, peaceful night at Alki two teams met and battled, volleyball style, for the title of Underdog Champs. After winning their semi-finals matches in 2 games, More High 5’s and Sexy Beaches faced each other and showed what they were made of. Aces were served, kills were acquired and digs were had by both teams. In the end the team with the most determination showed their true colors and More High 5’s walked away with the title of champions.

SUM[10] Late Summer Midcore Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Tuesdays Champs: Google

Slow and steady wins the race!
While the wind was a factor Google stuck with their plan of bump set spike and stayed calm the whole playoffs, with great serves and consistency at the net. While Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies also stayed calm and their digs were fantastic it was not quite enough to pull out ahead. Both teams worked hard and battled it out but Google came out on top!

Fight till the end!
While the weather was not up for cooperating on this final playoff day Kiss My Pass was ready to make all the adjustments needed to take the win. The wind was a small factor but a factor none the less and their opponent Indy 1 while short a player worked hard and put up a fight. In the end KMP pulled away and won with blocks and digs that were worth a million bucks. NIce work team!

SUM[10] Co-ed Grass Volleyball at Meridian Park Tuesdays Champs: Is That Pesto?

It's all in the net game
After each team played their semi final matches to three games I was interested to see how much energy and gusto they would have in the championship. I was very impressed to see both “Is that Pesto?” and “Red Hot Pants” come out swinging hard and running fast. All the guys showed off their guns with many powerful hits at the net. The scrappiness and determination was matched between the teams, but the deciding factor was in the serves and the inability for “Red Hot Pants” to control “Is that Pesto’s” wild beast, Dave. Dave was on fire with his spikes and proved their nickname correct as he killed it on his opponent’s court.

SPR[10] Early Summer Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Thursdays Champs: Spike Break

Calm on the beach, Storm on the court
It was a calm night at golden gardens which meant there was no blaming shanked balls or missed serves on the wind. This was a pure skills game and both teams were ready to show off their stuff. Both Spike Break and Wohoo had the bump, set & spike sequence down pat and were showing each other whose got the stuff to make a champion. What it came down to the most were serves and unforced errors. Spike Break pulled out on top in the serving category with many that left Wohoo wondering what just happened and while Wohoo challenged Spike Break many times, they just had too many balls that couldn’t quite make it over. In the end it was a victory for Spike Break.

SPR[10] Early Summer Softcore Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Tuesdays Champs: A Team

A double header takes us into the finals
They may not have been blowing up cars, but they were blowing up the court. The A Team showed up their A game and Liquid Goodness fought the good fight. Both teams were spiking, setting, and digging like it was their last moments on the court. They came into the third game each with a win and a loss, but the A Team took home a win.

Excitment was in the air at Golden Gardens

Teams were in it to win it
Kinky Sets-Indy #2 took on the biggest search engine in the world! It was a game to hedge your bets on, while Google has a little bit of street cred those Kinky sets where not going to go quietly into the night. Team Captain Alex had some great hits, and Angela pulled through with some great digs. In the end Google flexed their worldwide muscles and will be proudly wearing those championship shirts next season. Well done all!!

SPR[10] Early Summer Beach Volleyball at Alki Mondays Champs: Sand In Your Pass

Winds may blow, but these teams didn't.

Sand In Your Pass takes it all the way for a win.
All four teams involved in the play-offs came to play despite the weather. The competition heated up in the first round. With a stunning match between Air Traffic Control and Sand in Your Pass. SIP took the game in 2 rounds, and while both teams stepped it up, Randy Poplaski's hits and blocks at the net were unstoppable. Crystal's Crew also took on Volleyball Pun in another first round bout. Taking it to 3 games, Volleyball Pun fought valiently, but was unable to defeat Crystal's Crew. The Crew then took on SIP for a very intense championship game. Fighting gusts of wind, and many rounds of intense volleys, Sand In Your Pass came through with an epic win. Gavin Tucker was a monster on the court. All over offense and defense, with his masterful digs, and powerhouse hits. It was a well deserved win for Sands in Your Pass.
