Summer Co-ed Softball at Queen Anne Sundays

Alex Legault of the team Pex Santhers wins player of the week. Alex threw a complete game with 2 strike outs (one looking) and had 2 HR to help lead his team to a 21-2 rout of the Handsome Companisons.

Unlike football, where the biggest strongest guys are usually the greatest, softball is a sport where you cannot judge a player by their cover. True talent and greatness can come in all shapes and sizes and you never know who is going to be the most abled. Girls in this league often go to the plate low on confidence and feel they are hurting the team. Mel had no such worries coming to the dish with swagger every time, and while she might be small she showed her true power blasting a bomb to left. It is for this homerun and her confidence at the plate that Mel Murphy takes home our player of the week.

Sometimes it's great when the weatherman is wrong and this was one of those days! On a day that called for rain it couldn't have possibly been a nicer sunny day as The Hooligans faced off against Soft Balls, Hard Bats. While The Hooligans trailed early, they rallied back in the 3rd to tie it up thanks to the bat of Nick Diamonds. Nick went 3-for-4 from the plate and also smashed a deep homerun! These were two very evenly matched teams, but behind the bat of "Diamonds" when the smoke cleared and dust settled, it was The Hooligans who stood victorious with a 12-10 victory! Congratulations to The Hooligans and to Nick Diamonds our Player Of The Week!!

Following a pretty respectable rainy downpour, nobody's spirits were dampened as Oregon Sucks took on I'll Have Another which pitted the #4 seed vs the #5 seed to advance in the playoffs. Setting the tone right off the bat was Oregon Sucks' own Tim Sellereit. Playing left center field, Tim recorded 2 of the first 3 outs of the game on some very impressive sliding catches robbing the other team of would-be base runners. Tim wasn't done there as he crushed no fewer than 3 home runs to lead Oregon Sucks to a decisive 19-7 victory and advancement in the playoffs! Congratulations to Tim Sellereit, our Player of the Week!!
