Spring Softcore Kickball at U-District Playfield Mon/Wed

A lot of kickball rookies struggle their first time out, but not Casey. From great great catches in the field to hustling around the bases, you never would of guessed this was Casey's first kickball game. Casey also came up huge late in the game when the One Kick Wonders needed to rally. For playing like a veteran, Casey earns the all-important Player of the Week nod for Opening Day!!

In an impressive offensive showing, Chuck E lead the way for the Dragons. His 3 run homerun extended the lead as his team coasted to an impressive 14 run victory. Opponents know they will have to respect this kicker's power from now on.

Sierra took over as pitcher a few innings into the game and really changed the entire game dynamic. Quick off the mound to get some outs at first, great speed all over the diamond, and precise bunting mixed with bigger kicks for a complete game effort. She was also key in the 4-run final at bat that broke the tie and earned a victory for Return of the Pitches.

In what ended up being a close game, Jason gave his all on both sides of the ball. He made a great catch at second base that ended a 6th inning rally by Return of the Pitches, keeping the game within reach. Then, in the top of the 7th and final inning he had a big RBI kick as part of his team's 5-run final effort that came up just short of a victory but showed what great heart and pride the entire team has. Thanks for never giving up!

After holding off a 7th inning comeback in the first game of their double header, the Recess Renegades faced another challenge in Game 2. Defense proved to be the difference in a game that was tied at 1-1 from the 1st to the 6th inning. Outfielder Maya Marder ran down several balls in the outfield, killing potential scoring chances and preserving the tie games until her team took the lead for good in the bottom of the 6th.

Perhaps in omage to his stupendous catch a few weeks prior, Jason dropped all of our jaws while falling flat on his back to make an amazing catch in the outfield once again. Jason's heart and effort, demonstrated by his willingness to sacrifice his body and concentrate fully through the process of the catch, was a sight to behold on Wednesday. For his heroics (again), Jason is our player of the week!
