Starting off as an underdog 3 seed, Garren's Casual Encounters took home the league championship Wednesday night. The night started off with the 3 vs. 2 matchup against Pitch Please. GCE took an early lead and never looked back in a surprising 12 to 3 victory. To highlight the victory, J.J. Larsen started off the seventh inning with two sliding catches in shallow left-center field.
The Championship Game was a hotly contested battle with #1 seed Jiminy Kick It. GCE took an early lead in this game as well and never fell behind. Each inning JKI threatened but they never scored more than one run thanks to timely defense. The Player of the Game, Chris Wolford, was a rallying point for his teammates when he decided to push through an injury to help his team to victory. Playing through pain he played outstanding first base and managed to tough out a couple of hits. With JKI threatening once again in the bottom of the seventh with the tying run on base that timely defense showed up again securing a couple outs to clinch the championship.

After playing an opening day game for another league, P&B kept their chins up and heads high for the entire game, never giving up. Ball Me Maybe took an early lead and kept it for most of the game.
But in the bottom of the 7th, with hope nearly dashed, POTW Luke Deryckx stepped up with 2 runners on, and belted a home run, tying the game and sending his teammates into a flurry of excitement. You could feel the momentum change as we headed into extra innings. In the 8th, both teams were able to add runs, matching each other.
In the 9th, the pitcher helped himself out with gutsy base running that scored the eventual game winner!
