Spring Co-ed Kickball at Ballard Boys & Girls Club Sundays

Getting the season started as the first weeks elite player earing the honors of Player of the Week goes to Maragret D. Maragaret played outstanding, and excelled both in the outfield on defense or at the plate moving runners and getting on safely all 4 times she kicked. Maragaret was the driving force in her teams 8 runs in a very tight game that ended 8 to 0. It was Margaret's defense that made the difference with great catches out in left-field. Maragaret's best catch came after she sprinted down a fly ball close to the line, and bobbling the ball around with onlookers gasping from her razzle dazzle catch she ended up making. margaret's all around excellence earns her this weeks Player of the Week!

With 2 outs and trailing by a run in the top of the 7th, We Got The Runs were starring defeat in the face. Jerome was not feeling the pressure. Even after taking strike 1, he wasn't worried. The next pitch Jerome saw was drilled to the outfield for an extra base hit bringing home the tying run. Jerome would also go on to score the go ahead run the next batter. What a big time clutch performance! Way to go Jerome!

Drew had an awesome game on both sides of the ball. As pitcher, his balls rolled smoothly to the plate and he was able to make several great spinning throws to first to beat the runners.

His offensive prowess, however, is what carried his team today. He started with a big kick that ended up being a grand slam homerun (with some errant throws). Later, he added a bases clearing triple that gave him 7 RBIs for the game. He scored twice as well. Nice game Drew!

Kyle had a superb defensive effort at 1st base with great stretches and catches. Nothing got by him the entire game. On offense, Kyle had some monster kicks bringing in 4 runs and scoring 4 himself. It was just a complete game effort that demonstrated his mastery of the kickball arts.

In the semi-final game, Ben with his "Gilligan" hat (worn to throw off the opponent), led his team on both sides of the ball. His athletic ability and speed in LF led to so many catches that we lost count. He also had some big kicks, with 5 RBI's and 3 runs scored, making him responsible for over half his team's runs.

He continued making great plays in the finals, but the Lebowski's would not be fooled by the 'hat' and quickly learned to keep their kicks away from him. He added 2 more RBI's and 2 more runs scored, but alas, it would not be enough as the Snazzlers ended up a run shy of sending the championship game to extra innings.
