In a close game, Adam displayed some extreme power and blasted a grand slam right out of northacres park. This massive hit put his team in a state of elation, and provided them the cushion they needed to seal their victory on the afternoon. According to PB Army, Adam isn't usually their power hitter, so it was great to see him smashing one today! Congrats to Adam, our player of the week!

Russell's Wilson
Doubling Up
Russell's Wilson had a rough start to the season, going winless in their first three games. Today they broke out of that slump in a big way. Their bats came alive up and down the lineup and their offense carried them to two wins on the day. They look top be hitting their stride and the other teams should watch out for these heavy hitters!
After a tough slide at 2nd and a painful result, Shauna showed some serious team spirit hanging around to gut through her ordeal and encourage the Crows to rally from a 6 run deficit to actually take the lead against their heated rivals. Granted the Crows eventually lost in the last inning but who cares, they played a great game and Shauna is awesome. Hope you feel better Shauna !
There are not many female players in USL leagues that can do what Berit Tomten can do. She's quiet, very unassuming and you wouldn't even know she was an athlete until she steps onto the softball field. Let me tell you, this lady is the real deal and she can do what most men cannot in our leagues and that is hit with power and authority. Yesterday with two on she calmly steps into the box. On the very first pitch she sees she smashes a deep liner out to left center field and out of the park. Holy crap! She's equally great on defense robbing someone of a sure home run earlier in the day and saving 3 runs to give her team a chance. She's bad ass and it's a pleasure watching her do her thing. If I were to put together an all women's softball team, she would definitely be my first choice hands down. Great game Berit and we look forward to seeing you in action in a couple of weeks.
The Arbornauts have done it once again, capturing their fifth overall league title and their first since two seasons ago. This team is an anomaly if I could use that word to describe them as the average age of the team is about 35 years old. Not saying that's old by any measure but when you are going up against 20 year olds things can get ugly real fast. Well, this team, no matter their age have the chemistry, the togetherness, the mental toughness and just an all out balls to the wall attitude that has carried them and gotten them through many battles. On Sunday they were absolutely dominant. When I say dominant, I mean dominant. They put up 49 runs over two games and continued to pound the ball and run the bases like it was the last game that they were ever gonna play. When you can score nearly 50 runs over two games that means that someone is getting after it. Well, they got after it and when the dust settled, all the other teams were washed away. This team is the classiest and most caring bunch I have ever had the pleasure of umping and if you know their history and all the beatings they took as a team week in and week out, you will understand that the final product now is exactly what they were hoping for and is exactly what they are supposed to be. They could have disbanded a few seasons ago but they didn't because of their love of softball and their respect and care for one another. Great job Arbornauts and congratulations for yet another league championship.
