Little Lebowski Takes 1st
Defense Holds for Big Win

Little Lebowski came out to the field with one mission; to defeat Lowered Expectations. They had suffered their only loss to Lowered Expectations earlier in the season and revenge was setting into place. In the semi-final game, Debbie Steele stunned the opposing team by making three great catches in the outfield which sent them into the Championship game. Lowered Expectations had just come off of a big defensive win to defeat Pelotas del Fuegos 4-1 and were ready for battle. It was a close game until the 3rd inning in which Little Lebowski's offense racked up 3 runs and gave themselves a decent cushion heading into the 7th inning. Lowered Expectations didn't give up so easily and scored 2 runs to make it 6-5 with 2 outs. With 2 runners on base, Little Lebowski needed a big play to end their rally. A short blooper kick near third base would have sent the tying run home, but Nathan Worthcutt made a diving/running catch to end it! Great game and congratulations to Little Lebowski for winning their first Championship!

Offense Rally's Late to Defeat Marshall Law

A combined effort from both defense and offense kept Turkey Snazzlers VIII in the playoffs this season. Their semi-final game against Das Boot was taken over by the offense. Chris Vogel delivered a massive kick to the right-field corner to complete a 3-run homerun and had an additional 2 hits in the game. Turkey Snazzlers VIII brought that momentum into the Championship game against Marshall Law. Marshall Law didn't waste any time and scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning and held the lead until the 4th inning. Turkey Snazzlers slowing tied the game by placing the ball in the gaps and bunting (no man-bunts thankfully) with precision. It was a close game and everyone was on edge. In the top of the 7th, Dan Granahan drove the ball into left-field and scored the two go-ahead runs. A quick team huddle in the bottom of the 7th proved to be beneficial because their defense was unstoppable. Three great catches in the outfield sealed the game and Turkey Snazzlers VIII went on to win the Softcore Championship. Great season and hope to see everyone come out this fall.
