Summer Co-ed Softball at Greenlake Saturdays

Bottom of the Fifths on Saturday beat up on power house Pinehurst Pounders and they made it look too easy. Pinehurst Pounders have dominated the Greenlake league for some time now but it looks like there will be a changing of the guard soon. This team is hot, they are for real and they are starting to establish themselves as one of the best teams in the league. They are a very tough team to handle so please be prepared for all out war and please don't leave your A game at home. You will need it. Great game guys and gals and we will see you next week.

BOTF is peaking right now and firing on all cylinders. Their bats are hot, their energy is high and they are playing some really good softball. On Sunday they rolled and made it look easy in the process. They are the team to beat right now in my opinion and they are going to be a tough problem to solve. Great game and great win.

The Dino Nuggets came into Saturday's game against the Pinehurst Pounders very motivated and with no fear. The early result was a pounding from the first inning to the last. To start of the festivities Heather blasted a Grand Slam early on and after that the flood gates opened. Their bats were too strong, their defense was superb and their energy was not matched leading to an all out assault. With the playoffs fast approaching the Dino Nuggets have put themselves in a position to compete against and win against the best. Great game Heather and great team performance Dino Nuggets.

After getting through the first of two playoff games on the day, the Pounders looked like they needed a break. Instead they got themselves a second game with the heavily favored, undefeated and number one ranked Bottom of the 5ths, Being seeded fifth themselves, no one gave them a chance, their season was supposed to be over so go and get your fishing rods ready. Well, it didn't quite go that way for the Pounders, instead they brought their A games and ultimately did something so rare in USL softball that only a few lower seeds have done it. It didn't look good for them in the top half of the first inning when BO5s ripped off four quick runs knocking them back on their heels. After being able to muster only one run in the bottom half, you could hear the air leaving the tires. While holding BO5s to two runs in the top half of the second inning which was a task in itself, something clicked and all hell broke loose. They surprisingly and emphatically ripped off ten runs in the bottom half of the inning giving themselves some much needed breathing room and a little confidence boost going into the later innings. The defense got stiffer. Over the next three innings they held BO5s to zero runs with some very delicious defense and it seemed as though they were everywhere the ball was being hit. That's when you know you're playing some delicious defense. This is a great win for their organization and a testament in not giving up when you feel like the odds are not in your favor. Thanks for reminding us Pounders and congratulations on moving on to the next round. Special shout out to Jenn for being named Most Improved Player for the year.
