Spring Co-ed Softball at Greenlake Sundays

I don't know how many games where I have seen a left fielder get run ragged from all of the action in that area during the course of a game. Some players get tired, run out of gas and generally wind up making errors because they don't really know how to play the position. On Sunday Karen Itano held down left field like a boss. She recorded at least seven of the outs in the game and on one occasion she may have made the play of her career. With two runners on a ball was hit to DEEP left field. She immediately did what any good left fielder would do. Seeing that the trajectory and speed of the ball was going to carry the ball over her head, she turned and ran as fast as she could to the spot where she thought the ball would come down. Just as the ball was passing over her head she leaps up and makes a left handed over the shoulder grab. WOW! The opposing team's jaws just dropped as they stood there in silence and amazement. If USL had an annual ESPY-like award, this play would definitely win the best catch of the year and the hustle award. Great game Karen and it's always a pleasure to watch you play.

Marcus wasn't going to let a little ache slow him down or cause him to take a day off from softball duties. The first baseman came ready to play, and play he did.

Batting in the eighth slot, Marcus powered a home run and two doubles, driving in a load of runs for the Sharks. And when the opponent threatened a comeback, Marcus stepped up the defense, snagging a line drive and stepping on first for an inning-ending double-play, and helping to secure the Sharks' victory.

Scott threw two great games. His team only got a win on the second game, but they kept a great attitude the whole time. Congrats to Scott Sutherland and Pitches Be Trippin!
