This weeks player of the week goes to Tracy Brewer for her big plays in the field. With a close first game of the night it came down to defense. The final score was 7 to 6, and Tracy made sure no runs would score on her as she caught everything kicked in her direction. Great job Tracy!
Some times the player of the game doesn't go to the biggest stats but the biggest heart, and, or, the player who looked like they had the most dust from the infield on them when the game was over. Kelsey won on both accounts on Monday flying around the field and leading her team to an 8-1 victory on opening day of U-District KB - Nice work Kelsey -

POTW: Pedro Batres
Pedro was absolutely astounding behind the plate, kicking the ball to his first baseman over and over, making fantastic plays to the dismay of the other team. Pedro also scored multiple times and had great kicks for the day. Nice game!

POTW: adam miller
Two outs, bottom of the 7th, Adam Miller steps up to the plate. The score was 14-0 but he wasn't about to let his team get shut out. Adam kicked a bomb to Right Center and trucked his way around the bases for a home run that sparked a 2 run rally for the Philanthro-kicks.

POTW: sean kelly
Sean had a ridiculous game this week. In his first three at bats he had 2 home runs and a triple bringing in 4 runs. He also was a contributor on defense getting lots of catches in the outfield. Great game Sean.

POTW: Matt Gauthier
Kick in a Box
When his team needed him most, Matt Gauthier came up big Wednesday night with the game-winning home run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Stranded on 2nd with 2 outs, a little dribbler to the left side sent Matt scurrying around third base. When the ball bounced away from the 1st baseman, Matt slid into home for the victory. Great game Matt and Kick in a Box!
Sean brought the D for both games of RH2's double header. As RH2's pitcher he used his cannon of an arm to get a ton of outs at first by either the force out or setting his laser sights on the base runner themselves. He also showed of his sticky fingers by snagging multiple line drive come-backers including a one man double play where he caught a line drive just to his left and ran the ball all the way to first before the base runner could get back. Great D Sean

POTW: vivian kreider
Vivian had a stand out performance with 2 amazing plays at first base. In the first game of the Philanthrokicks double header she had an amazing reflex reaction catch that would make Kasey Keller jealous. And in the second game she one touch kicked the kickball directly into the runner to get an out. great plays vivian.

POTW: Corey Fredericks
Blue Steel - Indy #1
Corey had an awesome week himself on a rough week for Blue Steel (who lost both games of a double header by one run). He was the shining gem as he was great in the field and from behind the plate. He had a triple and a home run off of 2 booming kicks. Great Week Corey.
Laurel had an epic game on defense. She showed off her defensive prowess with her "look mom no hands" approach to catching. During Kick in a Box's doubleheader her kicks to the first baseman accounted for about half of the outs. Amazing.

POTW: Jennifer Maertens
Jennifer Maertens was a team player all the way for Internz. When her team needed because they did not have enough females to play she stepped up even though she could not run. In the first of two games, Jennifer was able to reach first three times even though she had to walk. Those three times were key to the Interz victory as those runs came around to score providing the winning difference in their first game. Nice job Jennifer, now go take care of that leg.
Ryan won the player of the week this week with one of the best plays I've ever seen in kickball. With no outs, players on 1st and 2nd, he did the unthinkable...Fielded an unassisted triple play. He was playing Shortstop and caught a line drive a couple feet off the bag. He kept his head about him and immediately stepped on 2nd to get the 2nd out. Then he sighted the baserunner between first and 2nd still trying to get turned around. He set his sights on her and drilled her from 20 feet away with an amazing throw from his laser-cannon arm. Unassisted Triple Play. Amazing.
Caitlin Devlin used her pitching and defense to help hold Manhandlers to lowest run total for the season. She used her curve ball to keep their opponents off balance all game. However her defense might have been better than her pitching as she had multiple line drive catches. You could tell by the end as she left it on the field, literally as she now had holes in her pants from all of her defensive plays. Way to go Caitlin!
