Summer Softcore Kickball in Fremont T/Th

Player of the day goes to Denton Dickson from team Kick in a Box. Denton's athleticism showed as he patrolled third base Tuesday night catching anything and everything that came his direction. While pretty much everybody from team Kick in a Box did well offensively, it was key defense that aided the team to victory. Congrats Mr. Dickson for a game well played!

This week the player of the week goes to Joel of a Swift Kick in the Grass. Although the game didn't go their way, Joel managed to entertain and keep is team holding tough with strong offense and exceptional defense. One play can sum up the energy and creativeness he brought to the field. While most players will try to do what their bodies won't allow (or will and end up being another victim of what is Kickball impairment) Joel came up with a macgyver-esque play. The ball was lobbed into the air and Joel managed to track it down and before hitting the ground, use his foot to keep the ball alive and in the air for a teammate to catch for the out. Excellent work!

Rita was absolutely amazing. She made every possible play at second base. Diving catches, routine pop ups, fielding grounders, everything. It was the best fielding i have seen by a second baseman/woman in a long time. But that's not all she did awesome on offense as well reaching base regularly and getting dirty sliding into 2nd to avoid the out. Great Game.

Todd had an epic week this week. As always he pitched amazingly while getting loads laser guided throws to first to throw out the unsuspecting bunter. But the amazing stat line is his offense. he went 8 for 9 during Angry Pirates' double header as well as kicking for the cycle in the first game. Amazing.

Scott was great defensively this week. He had about a dozen catches in Center Field with 4 or 5 of them being pretty good. He also recorded the final out of the game at a full sprint while dealing with the glare of the sun in his eyes. He definitely earned Gold Glove honors for this league.

Power Steam and We've Got the Runs were tied up 1-1 alllll the way up until the 7th inning. The opposing team got a run at the top of the 7th, and Power Steam knew they had to act fast. It was Stephen at the bottom of 7 that made the game winning kick to get two runs in for his team. Game saver!
