Opening Day for summer kickball at the Ballard Boys and Girls Club was full of laughter, competitive spirits and spectacular games. Gary Voronel of "Boot to the Head" dominated on offense in his first game of the season. Gary went 3-4 with a Solo HR, Double, and a two-run single. Well done and keep it up!

Turkey Snazzlers VI
A classic kickball game between Turkey Snazzlers VI and Quincy Jones Love Machine 2 produced some amazing defensive plays. A solid boot from Turkey Snazzlers looked to be a definite hit, but Ryan Calderon changed that in about 15 seconds. After a running catch to get the first out, Ryan noticed the runner at 1st walking back to the base and with unbelievable velocity he struck the runner for the last out. Amazing play! Definitely the highlight of the night!

A double-header in 80 degree weather didn't phase Karl Erickson in Sunday's games. In the first game against Turkey Snazzlers, Karl had two great hits including a solo homerun. The second game turned into a defensive highlight reel with Karl making three unbelievable outs to end the game again Quincy Jones Love Machines. Great Hustle and attitude!

Sunday's game between Live-Inspired and Quincy Jones Love Machine 2 was extremely hot, but that didn't stop Aaron Lanting from playing some terrific defense at 1st base. Aaron was able to make two great plays by stretching out to the maximum at 1st base and disabling Quincy Jones from scoring two runs. Aaron also had a great attitude throughout the game. Thank you for keeping it real!

A defensive battle between Kicks McGee & Live-Inspired came to wild close on Sunday evening. After several freakish outs from Live-Inspired's 3rd Baseman, Gavin Campbell didn't know where to kick. Identifying a gap in right field, Gavin managed to reach second and score the winning run. Best game we've seen this season.

Although the player of the week is awarded to William, it really goes to both William and Daniel. This was the game to watch this season! In it to win it. The game was cut throat close all the way up to an extra inning in the 8th. William played solid d as the catcher and Daniel the pitcher. William also broke the tied game with an awesome RBI for the win. As for Daniel, well.. as his team said.. "he saved our bacon!"

This week's player of the week goes to Matt Williams of team Quincy Jones Love Machine 2. Matt pitched a great 8 tough innings in a close battle against Kicks Mcgee. Matt helped keep the game close with his awesome toss outs off of bunts from the strategious and fast Kick Mcgee females. During one occurance, Matt made a hellofa out at first off a bunt, then turned and threw the ball at the runner going from 3rd to home and barely, and i mean barely (centimeters)...(millimeters) missed him. It was a smart play that doesn't happen too often in kickball, that you have to apprectiate. Great defense, Matt! You are a super underdog kickballer:)
