Saved by the Bench - Indy #1
This Indy team stayed true to their new name, "Saved by the Bench," as the teammates on the sideline lent a hand more than once to get the ball over the net. Though these awesome saves didn't count, when it mattered, Lindsay made it count. On the court she was all over with some great digs and hard hits. Great job Lindsay!!

As some may know, the Seattle to Portland bike ride was this past weekend, a 200 mile ride! And our very own Amanda Nelson from 'Multiple Offenders' rode it! Despite what I can only imagine would be an exhausting weekend, Amanda showed up to her 6:30 game on Monday (on her bike of course!) and she didn't miss a beat! Amanda played great out there, way to go!!

Team PS
The nice thing about beach volleyball is that if you're not afraid to dive for the ball, the ground won't be too hard. That being said, the sand isn't exactly as soft as a serta mattress either. This didn't phase Jack of Team PS (and Can't Touch This) for at both the 6:30 and 7:30 games, whenever I looked over at Court 4, he seemed to be soaring through the air to make an amazing save. After the landing, Jack would spring right back up, dust himself off, and be ready to play again. It was fun to watch a player with so much drive and determination! Keep it up!

Everyone got to the beach with a smile on their face this week, no doubt because our friend the sun decided to make an appearance! This remains true for SMAK, even though they were short players. Despite lacking manpower, the effort put forth on the court easily made up for their lack of teammates. Adrian Galaviz was smacking the ball to say the least; his hits were hard and his hops were high! He wasn't afraid to get down and a little sandy for the ball either. On top of a hard working game, Adrian and his teammates stuck around for the 7:30 game to sub for some Underdoggers in need. Great job!!

What I think is so great about Underdog is that the people that play not only are focused and dedicated to the sport, but they seem to have a genuinely good time out there! This certainly holds true for Sweat Bandit's player Steve Migala. The weather on Monday was less than summer like (it is August after all), but that didn't keep the smile off Steve's face and his morale stayed up! Not only was Steve's attitude great, but he hustled to every ball, had a great eye for when it was out, and there was even a rolling dive or two! Excellent work out there this week Steve!

Mihak Hagel is a consistent and reliable player and teammate. She truly proved this Monday night when she showed up to the beach the day after doing the Danskin Triathlon! 1/2 mile swim, followed by a 12 mile bike ride, and finished with a 3.1 mile run, this triathlon is quite the feat! To complete that, then come to play volleyball full force the next day is incredibly commendable! Excellent work Mihak, keep it up!!
