The 6th edition of the summer classic returns... and it's going to be a MONSTER! The 2009 Red Rubber Showdown is your ticket back to the halcyon days on the playground...grown-up style. Saturday, July 11th will be a full day on the diamond and at the bar with your peeps in honor of the game we all know and love from 3rd grade - Kickball! Coed teams of 15 (10 in the field) will converge on Seattle's gem little league complex at Lower Woodland, as well as Greenlake, University Playfield, and Ross Park to soak in the sun. During breaks the bar shuttles will ferry thirsty kickballers to and from the local watering holes for "refreshments." With 2 Divisions to choose from, The Red Rubber Showdown is for everyone: whether you are a team of crafty kickball league veterans, or you haven't played since you were 8!

When...

will we be playing these kickball games in the sun and going to the bar?

Game start times will be from 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturday, July 11th. Most teams will have games scheduled over a 3-4 hour block of that time. For teams that qualify, playoffs will be held at 7 and 8 PM. Each team will be scheduled for at least one 'bar break' during the day to jump on the shuttle and grab some food and beer.

will all of this fun be had?

We have all 4 fields of Seattle's nicest little league facility, Lower Woodland, reserved for the entire day plus fields at Greenlake, Ross Park, and University playfield to accomodate all the team. There will be 4 or more kickball games going, music, and all sorts of other nonsense all day long. For qualifying teams, the playoff round will take place at Lower Woodland. For those that haven't been there, Lower Woodland ball fields are just south of Greenlake: Google Map.

With 2 Divisions! Whether it's a team that's played with us a few times or a group of friends entirely new to kickball (grown-up style), The Red Rubber Showdown is gonna be a good time:

is the format for this tourney... # people, rules, and all that stuff?

The tournament will be standard Underdog Kickball if you've played before, the main change being that each of the three guaranteed games will be 5-innnings (or 45 minutes) instead of 7 (or an hour). Teams will have 10 in the field (4 women/6 men) with rosters up to 15 (everyone kicks on the roster).
