Rules of the Game - the Short Version
(A full copy of the rulebook will be emailed to captains upon sign-up)

• Each Match will consist of 3 games. Max time per game = 5 mins
• Teams must be on time and signed in to start a match – DO NOT BE LATE
• Starting side determined by ro-sham-bo by captains
Scoring an Out:

1. Hitting an opposing player below the shoulders with a live thrown ball.
2. If a player ducks, and this is clearly the cause for the player being hit above the shoulders, the player is out and the throw is legal.
3. Catching a live ball thrown by an opponent.
4. Causing an opponent to drop a live ball as a result of contact by another thrown live ball. (This usually occurs when a ball is being used to block a thrown ball. See below.)
5. An opposing player stepping out of bounds (usually to avoid being hit)

Blocking a Ball: A Player may block a thrown ball with a ball being held, provided the held ball is not dropped as a result of the contact with the thrown ball. A ball deflecting off a held ball and striking any player is not a live ball and does not constitute an out.

Definition of Live Ball: A thrown ball that has yet to strike the ground, a wall, a player, or another ball.

Beginning the Game:
• Prior to beginning a game, 5 dodgeballs are placed along the center line.
• Players then take a position behind their end-line.
• Following a signal by the official [whistle], teams may race for the center line to retrieve balls. Players may not cross the center line while retrieving balls.
• The balls must go back to the end-line to become ‘live’, after initial retrieval.
